Let’s discuss 3 ways to boost our energy levels today! (Can I get a woop woop?!)  I have seen these methods prove their truth over many years of practicing them myself, and also coaching others to do the same.  There are many testimonies of people that have given these a shot and seen tremendous results in their lives.

The first way that you can boost your energy levels to day is to :

1 : Drink water first thing in the morning.

Our body is made up of mostly water.  Our lungs are about 83% water and our brain and heart are 73% water.  Our skin contains 64% water and even our hair contains about 25% water. When we sleep our body gets dehydrated and doesn’t retain the water we need.  This means that to boost our energy - we need to drink water first thing in the morning. There are a number of scientific studies related to the health benefits of drinking water on an empty stomach - before we consume anything else.

Here are a few of the benefits of drinking water on an empty stomach - one of the main ones is that it increases our red blood cell count.  These added blood cells increase the amount of energy in our body - and helps our organs function at an optimal level.  Another reason is that it helps balance our lymph system. This is an important part of our immune system- and it makes it easier for our body to fight off infections. One last reason drinking water on an empty stomach can increase our energy is that it increases toxin flushing from all areas in our body.

At baseline, we all need a minimum of half our bodyweight in ounces of water per day.  This means that someone weighing 150 lbs with low activity levels needs a minimum of 75 ounces of water per day.  And more is needed when we sweat, workout, or are highly active.  This is why 1-2 cups of water first thing in the morning can have a tremendous impact on energy levels.

Another way we can increase our energy levels today is to

2 : Limit outside influences that cause a spike in cortisol.

Our brains have neuroplasticity - Neuroplasticity is the ability of the brain to form and re-organize new connections - and ignore old connections.  This means we can mold our brains towards positive or negative thought patterns.

Scientific studies show that negative thoughts, words, and tones release cortisol into our brains - which activates our stress response - also known as fight or flight.

Fight or flight activates pathways in our brain that create thoughts related to danger, fear, or imitation. This means the more we expose our brains to high levels of cortisol, we develop pathways of negative thought patterns, which has been linked to decreased energy levels. Cortisol is also associated with a number of health problems.

If we notice an influence is promoting negativity, then we need to assess how limit it in our lives.  Areas of influence that we can assess can include : people that consistently use negative tones or say defeating statements, negative messages that we see or hear on TV, social media accounts that promote negative viewpoints, or any other resource that has our attention on a consistent basis.

Lets limit these areas that increase cortisol we can enjoy increased energy.

One last way we can boost our energy levels today is to :

3 : Replace highly processed foods with crunchy, colorful alternatives. Examples can include nuts, seeds, apples, salad, root chips, carrots, celery, roasted edamame, or other cruciferous vegetables. All of these provide the same amount of satisfaction as crunchy processed foods - because crunch increases our satiation. And when we choose to eat these crunchy alternatives, we give our body a number of health benefits through the vitamins, minerals, and water they provide - and this will boost our energy.  It also gives our mouth and jaw a workout that can be energizing.

These snacks can help us feel more alert during a midday slump.  And because foods with crunch and texture take longer to eat - we can increase the act of mindful eating, so our body can digest our food more slowly and keep our energy levels stable instead of ramping up and down.  Another cool fact - is that the more we choose crunchy colorful nutritious foods - we can retrain our tastebuds to prefer them to highly processed foods.  Over time, our body realizes that it can be full, satisfied, and energized from nutritious foods -  so the more likely we will crave them!

All of these methods don’t have to be added all at once.  I suggest adding one new per week, so you fully experience the boost of energy and many other benefits.

Friends drink water first thing in the morning, limit outside influences that increase our cortisol levels, and replace highly processed foods - with crunch colorful alternatives. So you can have energy to live your best life - and experience fully all that your life has to offer you.

Add these energy promoting practices to your routine - so you can enjoy your greatest life!

Because your most incredible present - and best future are waiting.
